Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has met with Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman.

A senior official at the Chief Advisor’s Office confirmed the courtesy call had occurred on Monday morning.

“The army chief updated the chief advisor on his experiences during his trip to China,” they said. “It was solely a courtesy call.”

Gen Waker went to China on an official visit on Aug 21. He returned to Bangladesh on Wednesday night.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the visit, the army chief paid courtesy calls on senior Chinese military and civilian officials, including General Chen Hui, political commissar of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Ground Force. He discussed various issues during the meeting, including bilateral interests and assistance related to the repatriation of the Rohingya.

In addition, Gen Waker paid a courtesy call on Chen Defang, president of China's NORINCO Group. He visited the training facilities of the Beijing campus of the PLA Academy of Armored Forces, as well as various military equipment production laboratories.
