Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) chief Additional Inspector General of Police Md Ahsan Habib Palash has announced that the force will strengthen security measures across the country in coordination with other law enforcing agencies on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
"These security measures are being taken by setting up check posts and conducting searches at various locations across the country,” he told reporters after inspecting the security arrangements at the National Eidgah on Tuesday.
He also said RAB personnel are conducting robust patrols in their own jurisdictions during Eid.
RAB Director General Ahsan said, "RAB's intelligence and surveillance have been increased to block various black markets, hoarding by unscrupulous traders, price hikes, and the sale of adulterated food and counterfeit products that destabilise the market."
He said RAB's online monitoring activities will continue round the clock during Eid.
Referring to thinner crowds in cities, including the capital, during the holidays, he said the risk of crimes such as theft, robbery, and mugging increases during Eid.
"To handle the situation, the number of night-time security posts and patrols has been increased in all metropolitan areas, and at all district and Upazila levels."
The RAB director general also assured that the force has taken comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of homebound travellers so that the people of the country can celebrate Eid with their friends and relatives in a joyful and peaceful environment.
