The district administration has revoked the declarations of 11 newspapers published in Mymensingh.

On Monday, Additional District Magistrate Umme Habiba Mira said letters notifying editors and publishers were sent last Thursday.

The affected publications are Daily Ajker Mymensingh, Desher Khobor, Bishwer Mukhpotro, Ishika, Adamya Bangla, Alokito Mymensingh, Diganta Bangla, Jahan, Kishaner Desh, Hridoye Bangladesh and weekly Paridhi.

Mira said the notices were issued in March and April after it was found that the reports on the second and third pages of the newspapers were printed identically -- a violation of Sections 4 and 7 of the Printing Presses and Publications (Declaration and Registration) Act, 1973.

Thus, the declarations were cancelled under Section 10 of the same Act, she added.
