Man killed with sharp weapons in Khulna over suspected ‘B Company’ feud

A man has been killed by attackers who hacked at him before slitting his throat in Khulna’s Rupsha.

Police suspect the killing may have stemmed from an internal feud within the “B Company” gang of “Grenade Babu”, described by police as a top criminal in Khulna.

The incident took place in front of a tea stall in Durjani Mahal village of Aichgati Union around 9:15pm Saturday, said Abdur Razzak Mir, chief of Rupsa Police Station.

The deceased, 27-year-old Joy Dhali, hailed from Durjani Mahal village. He owned a fish enclosure and managed it himself.

Officer Mir said Joy had been spending time at Litu’s shop at the Shahid’s intersection in Durjani Mahal since Saturday evening. Around 9:15pm, several men arrived on motorcycles and began talking to him.

“At one point, they struck Joy Dhali’s left leg with sharp weapons. When Joy fell to the ground, they slit his throat and killed him before quickly leaving the scene,” he said.

Mir said police recovered the body that night. After preparing the inquest report, they sent the body to Khulna Medical College Hospital for a postmortem.

Khulna Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tajul Islam said, “The deceased, Joy Dhali, was a member of the B Company of Khulna’s top criminal, Grenade Babu. Seven cases, including cases involving violence, have been filed against him at Rupsa Police Station.”

The police officer said they initially suspected that members of “B Company” killed Joy over an internal feud.

“Efforts are under way to determine the motive behind the killing and arrest those involved,” he said.
