Govt moves 36 police officers in one day, including Gazipur commissioner, six SPs

The government has reshuffled 36 police officers in a major round of transfers, appointing a new Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) commissioner and new superintendents of police (SPs) in six districts.

Four separate circulars issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday detailed the new postings. The list includes 5 DIGs, 12 additional DIGs, and 12 SPs.

Among the key changes DIG Md Israil Howlader of Industrial Police has been appointed Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.

PBI SP Mohammad Sarwar Alam has been made SP of Gaibandha.

Dinajpur SP Md Marufat Hossain moves to Faridpur, while DMP Deputy Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman becomes SP of Dinajpur.

Habiganj SP ANM Sajedur Rahman goes to Pabna, DMP DC Gautam Kumar Biswas to Habiganj, and DMP DC Mohammad Billal Hossain to Nilphamari.

Additional reshuffles include: DIG Kazi Md Fazlul Karim (Police Headquarters) to Police Staff College; DIG Md Rafiqul Hasan Goni (Police Telecom) to Highway Police; DIG Md Nazrul Islam (APBn Hill Districts Office) to APBn Headquarters; DIG Salma Begum (Highway Police) to APBn Hill Districts Office.

Several officers promoted from SP to Additional DIG received new assignments, including officials from the Anti-Terrorism Unit, SB, Police Headquarters, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), and others.

CID’s Md Masum Billah Talukder, newly promoted, has been posted to the Anti-Terrorism Unit.

Further transfers at additional DIG rank include postings to CID, PSTS Betbunia, Police Headquarters, Barishal APBn, Chattogram Range, SB, Sylhet Range, and DMP.

Among those promoted to SP, CMP’s Md Hasan Mostafa Swapon and SB’s Aminul Islam will continue in their respective units in upgraded roles.

Other newly-appointed SPs include, GMP’s Md Rezaur Rahman to Khulna Metropolitan Police; Police Staff College’s Tahura Jannat to Railway Police; and Dhaka Range’s Md Rajib Forhan to PBI.

Additional district-level SP transfers are: Police HQ SP Md Saifullah bin Anwar to Barishal Range; CMP’s Hosain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan to Highway Police; Sylhet Metropolitan Police’s Shariful Islam to CMP; and Mymensingh In-Service Training Centre’s Rashida Begum to Mymensingh Range.

The government also reassigned current SPs with Gaibandha SP Nishat Angela moved to Police Headquarters; Faridpur SP Md Abdul Jalil to PBI; Pabna SP Md Mortoza Ali Khan to CID; and Nilphamari SP Abul Fazal Muhammad Tarique Hossain Khan to PBI.
