ANFREL plans to send international observers in February election

The organisation also plans to co-host a regional conference with the EC

A delegation from the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) has met Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin to discuss plans to send an international observation mission in the February national election.

ANFREL issued a media statement on the meeting with the CEC in Dhaka on Tuesday.

It said, “The chief election commissioner welcomed ANFREL’s efforts to promote democracy in Bangladesh and expressed his sincere appreciation.”

The delegation also discussed the progress of ANFREL’s ongoing workshop to strengthen local civil society organisations, according to the statement.

It announced plans to jointly organise a regional conference with the Election Commission (EC) to share experiences.
