At least two people have died after a car ploughed into an autorickshaw in Chattogram’s Satkania.

Five others were injured in the accident that occurred on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway near the Dohazari BOC intersection on Wednesday.

The dead were identified as Ranojit Dhar, 55 and Babul De, 63.

According to Sergeant Md Samrat Hossain of Dohazari Highway Police Station, the Chattogram-bound car struck the battery-powered autorickshaw from behind near the Rajmahal Community Centre, a short distance away from the BOC intersection.

“As many as seven people -- five autorickshaw passengers and two people in the car -- were injured.”

Samrat said the injured were initially taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared two of them dead.
