Veon Chairman Augie Fabela has met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Veon is the parent company for Banglalink, one of the largest mobile operators in Bangladesh
The meeting was held at the prime minister's office at the national parliament building at 9:30am on Monday morning, said the Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Hossain Shadhin.
He said, "A delegation led by the Veon chairman met with the honourable Prime Minister Mr Tarique Rahman. Discussions were held on making digital services more accessible."
"Prime Minister Tarique Rahman urged Banglalink authorities to take initiatives to provide smartphones to customers at more affordable prices, so that smartphones can reach people from all walks of life. At the same time, he urged them to consider further reducing the price of mobile data.”
Fakir Mahbub Anam and Prime Minister's Telecommunications and Information Technology Advisor Rehan Asif Asad, Veon Board Member Michiel Soeting and Banglalink CEO Johan Hendrik Martinus Buse also attended the meeting.
