Midwifery intern showing measles symptoms dies in Sylhet

A midwife has died with measles symptoms at a public hospital in Sylhet.

The 22-year-old intern breathed her last at the intensive care unit of Sylhet Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed District Hospital on Monday morning, said Resident Medical Officer Mizanur Rahman.

Mizanur said she was a resident of Sunamganj’s Bishwambarpur Upazila. 

The hospital authorities said she had been ill with measles symptoms for a few days.

When her condition deteriorated, she first sought treatment at a private hospital in Sylhet.

Later, as she became increasingly ill, she was admitted to the government hospital on Sunday afternoon.
