Fire destroys three shops at Narail market in early morning blaze

Fire Service says the incident took place at Lahuria Bazar in Lohagara

A fire has burned down three shops in Narail’s Lohagara Upazila.

The blaze broke out at Lahuria Bazar early on Friday, according to Md Sohaguzzaman, station officer of Lohagara Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Announcements about the fire were made through mosque loudspeakers, prompting locals to rush to the scene and try to put out the flames.

A Fire Service team later reached the area and brought the blaze under control after nearly an hour of efforts.

Md Bokul Sheikh, owner of Sotota Furniture and Hardware, said two separate shops belonging to him suffered losses worth around Tk 1.2 million.

Md Faruk Biswas, owner of Ekota Furniture, claimed the fire caused damage worth nearly Tk 300,000 to his shop.

Fire Service official Sohaguzzaman said a hardware shop was completely destroyed, while two furniture shops were partially damaged.
