Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled new uniforms for its flight crew for the first time in a decade, drawing criticism from users online, NDTV reports.
PIA said several leading Pakistani designers contributed to the new uniforms, including Maheen Khan, Deepak and Fahad, Generation, Ismail Farid, Munib Nawaz, Deepak Perwani, Faraz Manan, Amir Adnan, HSY and Nomi Ansari.
The uniforms come in two colours -- deep forest green and soft grey-blue.
Men wear tailored jackets with trousers and patterned ties, while women wear fitted waistcoats over matching trousers, along with scarves and matching caps.
The redesign prompted criticism on PIA’s Facebook page, with some users saying the airline should focus instead on improving service quality, staff professionalism and the passenger experience, according to the Indian outlet.
Others called for greater attention to reliability, passenger comfort and operational efficiency rather than what they described as cosmetic changes.
One user listed concerns including aircraft maintenance, seat cushioning, kitchen cleanliness, cleaning standards, water availability in washrooms, entertainment screens, blankets and pillows, as well as staff attitudes.
The criticism comes as PIA continues to grapple with financial and operational pressures.
Earlier this year, the airline cut passenger discounts following a high-level review of rising jet fuel costs and potential losses, NDTV reported, citing Dawn.
PIA said flights to the United Arab Emirates would be capped at 16 per week, while services to other Gulf countries were suspended for several weeks.
Flight operations to Beijing and Kuala Lumpur were also halted briefly.
PIA was partially privatised in December 2025 when a consortium led by the Arif Habib Group bought a 75 percent stake for PKR 135 billion ($482 million).
