There should be a proper financial feasibility assessment of any new projects in the future to ensure the smooth development of Bangladesh’s aviation and tourism sectors, says Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam.

Addressing a meeting the Secretariat on Saturday, she said: "It is very important to have a well-deliberated work plan before building any infrastructure or facility.

“In addition, those concerned must play a more careful and responsible role in monitoring the progress of the contractors' work."

The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of the Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) for April under the outgoing fiscal year, according to a media statement.

Referring to the instructions of the prime minister, Khanam said the remaining work on ongoing projects must be completed as soon as possible.

"All concerned must always be vigilant and responsible so the people can benefit from the projects implemented with the taxpayers’ money,” she said.

The minister further said: “It is very important to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of projects."

Khanam instructed those responsible to work while maintaining strict surveillance at all levels.
