Manchester United have given green light to English winger Marcus Rashford to open talks with Spanish giants Barcelona for a season-long loan move, ESPN reports.
The La Liga champions have been the preferred destination for the 27-year-old ever since he fell out of favor with Man Utd coach Ruben Amorim in December.
The talks between the parties are moving forward and there is a belief that the deal will go through, as per BBC Sport.
During the January transfer window, Rashford offered himself to Barca but the Catalan club decided not to push for the Man Utd player.
Sporting Director Deco and coach Hansi Flick have now decided to turn to the winger after missing out on Athletic Club’s Nico Williams this summer. Barca were also interested in Liverpool’s Luis Diaz but the hefty price tag over the Colombian was an issue.
Barca’s loan offer comes with an option to buy, however, Rashford’s current wages that is over £325,000 per week remain an issue for the Spanish side as they are struggling with their finances for some time now.
Rashford made his debut for The Red Devils as an 18-year-old and went on to score 138 goals in 426 appearances.
The English winger played the second half of the last season for Aston Villa on loan and scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.
