Leicester City have confirmed Bangladesh’s midfield lynchpin Hamza Choudhury is leaving the club to join Sheffield United on a permanent deal, bringing his 21-year association with the Foxes to an end.
The 28-year-old is set to return to Sheffield United after spending the 2024-25 season on loan at Bramall Lane, where he made 16 appearances.
“Hamza Choudhury will leave to join Sheffield United on a permanent deal after 21 years with Leicester City,” Leicester said in a statement.
“Choudhury previously was on loan with the Blades where he made 16 appearances during the 24/25 campaign. We wish you the best Hamza.”
Choudhury joined Leicester's academy as a youngster and went on to make 165 appearances for the club, winning the FA Cup in 2021 and the Championship title in 2024.
His permanent move also marks another chapter in a career that has become significant for Bangladesh.
Born in Loughborough to a Bangladeshi mother, Choudhury switched international allegiance after previously representing England at Under-21 level.
He made his Bangladesh debut in March 2025 in a goalless draw against India and has since earned 10 caps, scoring four goals.
Choudhury scored his first international goal against Bhutan in June 2025.
