Dhaka, Aug 19 (BDNEWS)- Golam Robbani, the leader of Kansat Palli Bidyut Unnayan Sangram parishad, Saturday said that he would take part in the next general election in deference to the wishes of people.
"Public opinion is vital to me. I will take part in the election as people expect me to do so," said Golam Rabbani, leader of the Kansat Movement, following a question at a meeting at the DUCSU Bhaban of Dhaka University.
The Progotishil Chatra and Sanskritik Sangatan arranged the meeting.
Rabbani said people of kansat proved that they were able to realise their rights through movement. "The metre charge is now fixed at Tk 10 due to movement. The minimum charge for using electricity is Tk 78," he said.
Describing the Kansat movement turned against irregularities and corruption of the Palli Biddyut authoruty, Rabbani said the people of Kansat realised their fundamental needs of electricity through movement.
The convenor of Demra Pani and Bidduyut Sangram Parishad Mosleh Uddin Masud also spoke at the meeting.
Kansat palli Bidyut Unnayan Sangram Parishad leaders Ahmed Imtiaz Shishir, Ajijur Rahman, Tipu Sultan, Ahmed Ali and Jahir Chowdhury were also present, among others, at the meeting.
