NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has demanded to know why the Election Commission has remained silent after BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman “directly violated” election laws and regulations by promising to provide flats to Korail slum residents.

Patwary, who is contesting in the Dhaka-8 parliamentary seat as a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami 10-party alliance, alleges that the incident showcases the administration’s “discriminatory policies”.

He made the remarks while speaking to the media at the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office after receiving his election symbol on Wednesday.
