Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser of the National Citizen Party’s southern region, has alleged that several political parties are "sharing" deputy commissioners (DCs) among themselves by visiting the Secretariat.

Speaking at a coordination meeting in Dhaka’s Shahbagh on Friday evening, Hasnat claimed that the interim government was “assisting” these efforts.

He said, “Attempts are under way to engineer the next election. The current Election Commission is behaving in an authoritarian manner. Two parties are capturing every state institution. If this continues, people will not accept it.”

Referring to alleged conspiracies inside the cantonment, the NCP leader said: “Another person inside the cantonment is conspiring. He is pleading with Brigadier Azmir to protect the accused Army officers.

“If there is another conspiracy, we will not sit idle. Tanks cannot silence us.”

He also warned members of potential infiltrators, saying: “Many will join the party as spies. We must stay alert.”

NCP Northern Region Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam accused the media of spreading “false” reports about Nasiruddin Patwary’s resignation, which Nasiruddin himself denied, confirming he would remain with the party until it forms a government.

Outside the venue, two factions of NCP leaders clashed, with several people injured, as seen in videos shared on social media.
