The nomination paper for BNP leader Tarique Rahman has been declared valid for the Bogura-6 (Sadar) seat in the 13th parliamentary elections.
Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Toufiqur Rahman said two candidates’ nominations, including Tarique’s, were validated, while the applications of three other candidates were rejected.
He made the announcement at 10:20am on Saturday, following the scrutiny of nomination papers from five aspiring candidates for the constituency.
Toufiqur said that no discrepancies were found during the scrutiny of the nomination papers of Tarique and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Abidur Rahman Shohel.
Additionally, the nomination papers for Dilruba Nuri, nominated by the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BaSad), were cancelled for failing to submit an asset statement.
The nomination for Abu Numan Md Mamunur Rashid of Islami Andolan Bangladesh was rejected for failing to provide educational qualification certificates.
Abdullah Al Waki of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) had his nomination cancelled due to an incomplete affidavit, he added.
