Hasnat Abdullah, a senior organiser of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has declared an annual income of Tk 1.25 million and total assets worth Tk 5 million in his election affidavit.

The 27-year-old, a native of Gopalnagar village in Debidwar Upazila, submitted the affidavit with his nomination papers to contest the 13th parliamentary election from the Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency.

Debidwar Upazila administrator (UNO) Md Rakibul Islam, the assistant returning officer, said the affidavit was filed on Monday along with Hasnat’s nomination.

According to the document, Hasnat holds Tk 1.35 million in cash and Tk 303,000 in bank deposits. He has also declared jewellery made of gold or other precious metals valued at Tk 2.6 million, furniture worth Tk 100,000 and electronic goods valued at Tk 65,000.

He listed no agricultural or non-agricultural land, housing or other immovable property in his name, and reported no income from such sources.

Hasnat said his profession is business, from which he earns Tk 1,253,539 annually. The affidavit lists no income from shares, bonds, savings certificates or other investments.

He declared that his wife, a homemaker, and his only son are financially dependent on him, and said neither he nor his immediate family members have any outstanding loans or liabilities with banks or financial institutions.

The affidavit also states that he paid Tk 105,531 in income tax in the 2025–26 fiscal year, and that there are no criminal cases or allegations against him.

Hasnat holds a Master’s degree in English from Dhaka University and is contesting a national election for the first time.

The Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency comprises one municipality and 15 union councils. It has 410,559 registered voters, including 215,237 men and 195,319 women, with voting scheduled to take place at 116 polling centres.

Eight candidates have submitted nomination papers for the seat, including BNP nominee and four-time MP Engineer Manjurul Ahsan Munshi. Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Saiful Islam Shahid has withdrawn from the race in Hasnat's favour as part of an alliance arrangement.
