In the general diary, written on the party’s official pad and filed at Paltan Police Station on Thursday, the BNP leader said he never opened any Facebook account himself.

He also alleged a page titled ‘Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Moha Sachib BNP’ was opened by an account named ‘Mohin uddin Bhuyian’.

A number of accounts and pages with the BNP secretary general’s name can be found on the social media website.

Over 450,000 have hit ‘Like’ on the page he mentioned in the GD. The number of its follower is around half a million.

Earlier in the day, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told a news briefing that some people had opened fake Facebook accounts with Mirza Fakhrul’s name.
