He made the claim as he campaigned in Dhaka’s in Chawkbazar on Saturday after BNP leaders stated that the government plans to keep the BNP away from the election.

“The BNP is preparing for violence and militancy, not for a peaceful movement. But we will confront them alongside the people,” said Quader.

The BNP, which had boycotted the Tenth Parliamentary Election, has been attempting to compel the government to fulfil its demand of a non-partisan election-time government.

“The country will be completely changed within a month,” BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed had said.

“Moudud is nothing but a chameleon. I am unaware of the divine source of his claim. BNP will lose more face the more it listens to him,” Quader said. Moudud is Quader’s opponent in his constituency.

“During the BNP’s tenure the power would be out for 18 hours of the day in Old Dhaka during the BNP tenure,” the Awami League leader said.

Quader urged the people to vote for the Awami League to continue the development in the country.

“Is there any alternative of Sheikh Hasina when it comes to development? Old Dhaka won’t be old anymore but become new if you vote for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

Haji Mohammad Selim, parliamentarian from Dhaka-7 presided over the event. Awami League Organisational Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, former MP Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, president of Dhaka Metropolitan South wing of Awami League Abul Hasnat and General Secretary Shah-e-Alam Murad made speeches.
