AL mayor candidate ahead in Rajshahi, BNP in Sylhet in EVM centres

The Awami League’s mayor candidate in Rajshahi has taken lead in the centres where voting was held with electronic machines or EVMs while the BNP candidate is ahead in the EVM centres in Sylhet.

According to the results published within an hour after the voting from 8am to 4pm on Monday, AL’s AHM Khairuzzaman Liton is leading BNP candidate Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul by 935 votes in two EVM centres in Rajshahi.

Liton with the boat logo bagged 1,424 votes while Bulbul with paddy sheaf symbol polled 489.

Out of 318,000 voters in the city, 3,383 were registered in the two EVM centres.  

In Sylhet, BNP candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury is 742 votes ahead of his nearest rival the Awami League’s Bodor Uddin Ahmed Kamran in two EVM centres.

Ariful polled 1,308 while Kamran 566 in these centres with 4,513 registered voters. The number of voters in Sylhet city is 321,732.

In Barishal, EVMs were used in 11 centres and the results of these centres were yet to be published.
