The party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke to reporters about the issue on Monday night.

"We haven’t yet received the permission to visit the grave tomorrow. You know that the government has slapped Section 144 (banning public gatherings) in the area until 11pm on Wednesday," he said.

"That's why we are not sure whether something can be done. But we will organise a programme after the Section 144 ends," Mirza Fakhrul said.

He also said they would try to do something on a 'smaller' scale on Tuesday.

The BNP observes Nov 7, which falls on Tuesday this year, as 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day'.

The party also deferred to Nov 11 its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan to mark the day due to the conference.

The authorities have not yet given it permission to hold the rally.
