Khaleda's motorcade hits and injures six BNP men in Cox's Bazar

Six leaders and activists of the BNP have been injured when the cars racing with party Chairperson Khaleda Zia's motorcade hit the roadside welcoming crowd at Ramu in Cox's Bazar.

Kanan Barua, general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's Cox's Bazar unit, told bdnews24.com that the party workers were hit by the cars in Khaleda's motorcade as they gathered to welcome their chief on Sunday evening.

"The leaders and activists got very close to the chairperson's car to see her when the motorcade was passing Ramu Bypass at around 7:15pm. Six were injured after being hit by cars in the motorcade," he said. 

The injured BNP workers were being treated at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, he said.

Prokash Dey, a havildar at the hospital's police camp, said the BNP leaders and activists hit by the cars of Khaleda's motorcade were being treated at the hospital.

He could not give the names or identity of the injured people.

Ramu Police Station OC M Liakat Ali said he was at the scene that time, but did not see anything.

Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Afrajul Haque Tutul said he heard about the incident. "I am checking it."

Khaleda is in Cox's Bazar to visit Rohingya refugee camps on Monday.
