"Listen to what the people are saying, have talks with political parties and act accordingly," she said on Saturday.

Khaleda's remarks came in her address to an iftar party hosted for BNP leaders and activists at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.

Khaleda reiterated the demand for national elections under a neutral government. Only then, the ruling Awami League would realise that it fell out with people, Khaleda said indicating a victory for her party.

The former prime minister said the proposed budget for FY2018 would hike commodity prices as it imposed 'excessive taxes'.

The budget will be a huge drag on the economy, according to Khaleda.

Blaming the government for the hike in capital flight, Khaleda said: "Those who are involved in siphoning off money are close to the government and untouchable."
