The BNP chief left her house at Gulshan around 4:30pm on Friday and went to Baridhara’s Notun Bazar and Pragati Sarani.

She spoke through a loud hailer and gave out leaflets seeking votes for Dhaka North City Corporation mayor contender Tabith Mohammed Awal.

Vice Chairman Selima Rahman was with the BNP chief.

Hundreds of BNP adherents marched escorting Khaleda’s motorcade.

Supporters of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student affiliate of BNP, took the extra measure to protect Khaleda after her motorcade faced barriers or came under attack on almost every day since she started campaigning last Saturday.

The Election Commission thinks her canvassing with motorcade and security personnel disrupts traffic and breaches rules governing the election.

The two BNP-backed mayor candidates of the city corporations in Dhaka have been warned over the issue.

Former FBCCI chief Abdul Awal Mintoo’s son Tabith is fighting with the symbol ‘bus’.

In Dhaka South City Corporation, the party’s city unit Convener Mirza Abbas is contending with the symbol ‘mug’.

Last Sunday, Khaleda’s motorcade faced bar at Uttara. She was shown black flags that day.

Her convoy came under attack during a street rally at Karwan Bazar on Monday. Several vehicles were vandalised.

At Fakirapool on Tuesday, brickbats were thrown at her motorcade and it came under attack again on Wednesday while crossing Bangla Motor intersection.

A glass of the former prime minister’s Nissan SUV broke in the attack. Her security personnel and other officials were beaten up severely.

She did not come out on Thursday as the car went for repairs.
