Dhaka, April 6 (bdnews24.com) – Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman and freedom fighter Naziur Rahman Manzur died Sunday of acute renal failure at BIRDEM hospital at the age of 59, a doctor said.

A namaz-e-janaza was held for the late leader on the south plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban after Zohr prayers, his family said.
Manzur's youngest son Wasekur Rahman Anjan told bdnews24.com that his father would be buried in Balia in the southern district of Bhola after his brother arrives from London.
Dr Fahmima Haque of BIRDEM hospital said Manzur had died just before five in the afternoon from liver cirrhosis, diabetes and complications of the kidney.
The chairman of a splinter of Jatiya Party, Manzur, was transferred to BIRDEM hospital from United Hospital's intensive care unit at 11:30am Saturday.
Manzur was born in Bhola on March 15, 1948 and had been involved in politics since his student days.
He was also an active freedom fighter during the Liberation War under the command of Sector 9.
Manzur went on to become a successful industrialist and founded a women's college, four high schools and eight madrasas in his district.
He had also served as a minister during the Jatiya Party's rule in the 1980s and also as Dhaka's mayor.
Manzur's is survived by his wife and three sons Andalib Rahman Partho, Ashikur Rahman Shanto and Wasekur Rahman Anjan.
Leaders from different political parties went to Manzur's Dhaka home to pay their last respects.
Speaker Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar, deputy speaker Akhtar Hameed Siddiqui, Awami League leader Abdur Razzak, BNP leaders Khandaker Delwar Hossain, ASM Hannan Shah, Sadek Hossain Khoka, Jatiya Party leader Kazi Feroz Rashid, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdus Sobhan, Abdul Kader Molla and officials of the Parliament Secretariat participated in the janaza.
His body was later taken to the BIRDEM mortuary.
