Dhaka, Aug 24 (BDNEWS) - Five ruling party MPs, including a minister, Wednesday decided to submit application to the Prime Minister for removal of the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Fisheries and Livestock ministry Haji Mohammad Mozammel Huq.
The five members locked in an altercation with the chairman as he did not agree to discuss a couple of matters with the members Wednesday as per the schedule of the meeting, the meeting sources said.
As the chair said he would discuss those matters in the next meeting, Prof Shahidul Islam said, "standing committee should work according to working paper."
The chairman became furious and charged Islam by saying, "why did you talk without permission?"
The other members then blasted and said, "you are discussing the same thing for the last two years."
At that point, the chairman, suspended the meeting.
The ruling party members, including minister for fisheries and livelihood Abdullah Al Noman, Prof Shahidul Islam, Nurul Huda, Shamsuddin Ahmed and Dhirendra Nath Saha, sat in a close door meeting and decided that they won't take part in any meeting under the chairmanship of Huq.
