A case has been filed over the attack, vandalism, and arson at The Daily Star office after news of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi's death spread.

Mizanur Rahman, head of the operations of the newspaper lodged the complaint with Tejgaon Police on Monday evening, said Ibne Mizan, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Tejgaon Division.

The lawsuit names 350 to 400 unidentified people as suspects. It claims the fire caused damage worth Tk 400 million to the newspaper’s property.

After Hadi’s death drew headlines on Thursday, offices of both Prothom Alo and Daily Star were targeted.

A separate complaint was filed on behalf of Prothom Alo at the same police station on Sunday night, naming 400 to 500 unidentified suspects.

In that case, police arrested 15 people from different locations and sent them to jail.
