Bangladesh has recorded five more deaths from dengue and 124 hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.

The updates by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday said a total of 18 people have died from dengue this year.

This is the highest single-day dead toll from the Aedes mosquito-borne infection since Jan 1.

According to the health directorat, 16 people were hospitalised in Dhaka North City Corporation and 17 others across hospitals under Dhaka South.

Dhaka Division saw two admissions while Barishal had 37, Chattogram had 28, Khulna had 14, Mymensingh had two, and Rajshahi had eight.

Over the past 24 hours, 100 people have recovered and left hospitals.

Since Jan 1, at least 5,924 people have been hospitalised. Of them, 5,455 have been discharged.
