In an interview with bdnews24.com on Sunday, she said the 'negative comments' on the issue has upset her, but ‘not very much’.

"Because I became champion on my own qualifications. They (organisers) didn't give me the crown for nothing. They did it through judging," she said.

On Saturday, a day after she was declared the winner, a judge told bdnews24.com that Avril was not among the two of her choices for the first position.

Actress-singer Shampa Reza, one of the six judges, said the other judges were of the same opinion.

The result of the contest was manipulated during the announcement, and the girl declared the winner was not the judges' choice, she alleged.

Avril said, "People are saying many things over this. There can be many reasons behind this. Maybe they did not see the contestant of their choice win, or maybe there was the mistake during the announcement."

Asked about her opinion on the Miss World 2017 pageant to be held in China in November, she said, "I am determined now. Some people are trying to undermine me. But I am still fighting, and I will prove myself."

"...So many people have told me so many things about the issue. Now I will answer them all. This is my commitment to myself.

“I will respond to the criticisms by becoming the champion in the Miss World contest," she added.
