HSC result: Dhaka leads in both pass rate and GPA-5 achievers

This year, Cumilla ranks lowest among all 11 boards

Dhaka has topped the Higher Secondary Certificate results this year in both overall pass rate and GPA-5 achievements among the nine general education boards.

At a press conference held at 10am on Thursday at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, Prof Khondoker Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, unveiled the detailed results and statistics.

In Dhaka, 64.62 percent of the 292,160 students who took the exams passed. Among the 188,783 successful candidates, 26,063 secured GPA-5.

The Barishal board followed in second place with a pass rate of 62.57 percent, where 37,066 out of 61,481 students passed, and 1,674 obtained GPA-5.

The Madrasa Education Board, once again, recorded the highest pass rate overall among all 11 boards -- 75.61 percent -- with 4,268 GPA-5 achievers.

At the other end, Cumilla board performed the worst this year, with a pass rate of only 48.86 percent and 2,707 students attaining GPA-5.

In the Technical Education Board, 62.67 percent of the 105,610 candidates passed, while 1,610 achieved GPA-5.

In Rajshahi, 77,742 students passed, marking a 59.40 percent success rate, with 10,137 obtaining GPA-5.

The Chattogram board recorded a 52.57 percent pass rate -- 53,560 of its 101,888 candidates passed, and 6,097 received GPA-5.

Dinajpur board’s pass rate stood at 57.49 percent, with 60,882 successful candidates, including 6,260 GPA-5 holders.

In Mymensingh, 51.54 percent of students passed. Of the 39,096 successful candidates, 2,684 earned GPA-5.

Jessore board recorded a 50.20 percent pass rate, with 56,509 students passing and 5,995 securing GPA-5.

Last year, Sylhet topped the nine general boards in overall pass rate, while Dhaka had led in GPA-5 achievers.
