A fierce competition is shaping up across Bangladesh’s private education sector as 78,711 teachers vie for 13,559 leadership posts in MPO-listed institutions.
The applications were submitted online between Feb 3 and Monday evening, and candidates will still be able to apply until midnight on Feb 26, with the deadline extended by a week.
This marks the first time that the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) is overseeing the recruitment process for heads and deputy heads of private educational institutions.
NTRCA issued a notice on Jan 29, inviting online applications from candidates who meet the qualifications and experience requirements under the MPO policy to sit for recruitment examinations for vacant posts, including principals, vice-principals, headteachers, assistant headteachers, superintendents and assistant superintendents.
NTRCA Chairman Aminul Islam said, “We have extended the application period by one week. Applications can now be submitted until midnight on Feb 26, and the application fee can be paid until midnight on Feb 27.”
According to NTRCA data, the highest number of applications has been submitted for the post of assistant headteacher at secondary schools.
3,872 vacancies drew 26,826 applicants.
The second-highest number of applications came for secondary school headteacher posts, with 19,838 teachers applying for 3,923 vacancies.
The third-highest was for vice-principal posts at degree-pass colleges, where 6,082 applicants competed for 627 positions.
The MCQ written exam will include 80 questions to be completed within one hour. Each correct answer carries one mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Questions will cover Bangla, English, ICT, mental ability and mathematical reasoning, general knowledge (Bangladesh and international), administrative management, and financial management, along with education management and subject-based fundamentals, depending on the institution type.
Applications are being submitted online through http://ngi.teletalk.com.bd, with state-run mobile operator Teletalk providing technical support for the recruitment process.
NTRCA said the final recruitment recommendations will be fully automated, based on candidates’ total scores in written and oral exams and their institutional preferences.
“Any form of lobbying will be considered grounds for disqualification,” the authority said.
