In a twist of events, Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed willingness to host Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches should co-host Sri Lanka be unable to provide suitable venues, according to Geo News.
With less than a month to go before the T20 World Cup, Bangladesh’s request to move its matches out of India has created a complex situation.
According to a Geo News report on Sunday, citing sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the country is “ready and fully equipped” to host Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is scheduled to play the West Indies, Italy, and England in Kolkata, with Litton Kumer Das and his teammates facing Nepal in Mumbai in the final group-stage match.
The tension began after Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the IPL. Indian authorities reportedly instructed Kolkata Knight Riders to release the left-arm pacer, who had been acquired in the auction for 92 million rupees.
Following the incident, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cited security concerns and formally requested the ICC to move their World Cup fixtures outside India.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcast also announced a ban on IPL broadcasts in Bangladesh.
In an effort to resolve the issue, ICC Chairman Jay Shah is reportedly scheduled to meet BCCI officials on Sunday.
The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup is set to begin on Feb 7.
