Dhaka College has suspended the operation of all its buses across every route until further notice after two vehicles were vandalised during clashes between students.

The college authority announced the decision through a notice published on its website on Tuesday. The statement, signed by Principal AKM Elias, said the measure was taken after “an unpleasant incident” in which two of the institution’s buses were attacked and damaged.

The latest clash erupted on Tuesday, exactly a month after students of Dhaka College and Dhanmondi’s Ideal College verbally agreed not to engage in any disputes or altercations -- an understanding reached on Nov 9 at a meeting brokered by New Market Police Station.

Students said the buses named Bijoy 71 and Shankhoneel were vandalised during the confrontation.

Dhaka College, City College and Ideal College -- three long-established institutions in the capital -- have a history of frequent scuffles, often triggered by trivial issues. At times, these incidents escalate into large-scale confrontations.

Such clashes routinely put law enforcers in a difficult position as they attempt to restore order, while commuters using the surrounding roads also face significant disruption and inconvenience.
