The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dr Sabrina Luthfa to establish the Prof Dr Lutfun Hussain Memorial Scholarship.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, the university said in a press release.
Under the MoU, one student from any undergraduate programme at ULAB will receive the scholarship each year.
“The selection will consider the student’s academic performance, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, ethical conduct, commitment, and respect for the values of ULAB,” the university said.
ULAB Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza signed the agreement on behalf of the university, while Dr Luthfa, an associate professor at the School of Business, represented her family.
The ceremony was also attended by Prof Jude WR Genilo, pro vice chancellor, and Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, special advisor to the Board of Trustees and treasurer, along with members of Dr Luthfa’s family.
The scholarship was initiated by the family of the late Dr Lutfun Hussain, a former professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of Dhaka.
“The initiative has been taken in his memory to support and encourage deserving undergraduate students at ULAB,” the university said.
