Banglalink launches 3G service

Banglalink, the country's second largest mobile operator, has commercially launched its 3G service.

The operator, which shaped the country’s telecom market, has made mobile telephony affordable since its inception in 2005.

Through the launch of its 3G service, Banglalink has again shown its clear intention to reshape the mobile market.

It is offering a unique opportunity to enter a new era with its corporate slogan “Start Something New” with Banglalink 3G.

Initially, the service would be available in Gulshan, Banani, Old DOHS, Baridhara, an Motijheel area of capital Dhaka and in the Agrabad area of the port city Chittagong.

Subscribers will be able to use 3G Data from their 3G enabled devices. Customers enjoying 2G internet service can easily subscribe to a 3G plan without changing their present SIM card. All they need to do is choose and subscribe the package.

All the 3G packs will be available at a single store, *5000#. A Banglalink subscriber availing the 3G service will have video calling facility as well.

Banglalink customers will get a special discount in Samsung stores.

Also, the Banglalink Priyojon customers will be extended an equal monthly installment facility to purchase Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Banglalink Gulshan and Motijheel customer-care centres.

Banglalink CEO, Ziad Shatara said:

“Banglalink has always been at the forefront of technology in this market, and with 3G, we reiterate our commitment to deliver to our customers, the next generation of technologies and value propositions.

“I take this opportunity to thank all government officials, my industry colleagues, the teams that have worked relentlessly and all stakeholders who strived to make this moment a reality.”

Banglalink is the 2nd largest mobile telecom operator in Bangladesh with around 28 million subscribers, and a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based Vimpelcom Ltd.
