Dhaka, June 7 (BDNEWS) – Education Minister Dr Osman Farruk Wednesday told the Parliament that uniform grading system would be introduced in all public and private universities across the country from this year.
"As a result, the universities will take the examinations under semester system and the results would be published quickly improving existing situation and facilitating the students," Farruk said in reply to a question raised by Shahria Akhter Hossain.
The Minister said the government and the University Grants Commission (UGC) have taken up some important steps to publish the examination results and improve the quality of the university education.
The UGC has already finalised a uniform grading system which would be implemented from this year.
In reply to another question raised by Dr Amena Begum, the Education Minister said there are 1,121 posts vacant for teachers in the public colleges across the country and the government is working on to fill the vacancies through direct appointments or through promotion.
So far the government has appointed 4,587 teachers in the public colleges.
