Chapainawabganj, Feb 2 (BDNEWS)- Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rafiqul Islam was withdrawn after ten days of the killing of eight persons by the police who fired on an agitated mob at Kansat in Chapainawabganj.
District Administration sources said an order relating to withdrawal of the Shibganj UNO was received by the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday. The concerned UNO was transferred to a ministry from Shibganj, sources say.
UNO Rafiqul Islam told BDNEWS about the news of his withdrawal.
Meanwhile, the life of people in Kansat has returned to normalcy after the withdrawal of hartal and other programmes following the release of Golam Rabbani, the leader of Palli Bidyut Sangram committee and nine others on bail on Tuesday afternoon.
The number of additional policemen has also been reduced.
Import and export activities have become normal in the most important land port of the northern region-Sona Masjid.
