Monirul Islam moved to Antiterrorism Unit from DMP's counterterrorism unit

A familiar face in the media, Monirul played the key role in forming the counterterrorism unit in DMP when he was an additional commissioner.  The unit came into prominence after conducting a series of operations in Dhaka and elsewhere in Bangladesh. A home ministry notification on Monday announced the transfers and promotions of 14 other DIGs. Four officials have been promoted to the rank of Additional IGP. One of the promoted additional IGPs, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, will be the officer superior to Monirul in the Antiterrorism Unit.
