'Bangladesh hangs Islamist leader' is top of the news in CNN. The US-based network makes it clear in the lead para that the hanging was done despite UN objections.

Strangely BBC's news website carries the same headline - "Bangladesh hangs Islamist leader".

The BBC story ends raising a question on the International Crimes Tribunal where Molla was tried for his 'crimes against humanity'.

'Human rights groups have claimed that the tribunal falls short of international standards," says the BBC report.

Al Jazeera's top headline reads "Bangladesh executes opposition leader.”

From India's NDTV to Times of India website to Pakistan's Dawn, the hanging of Molla made top of the running order too.

Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Molla was hanged to death at 10:01pm on Thursday.

The execution of the 1971 war crimes convict was the first of its kind in Bangladesh's history.
