Mannan is leading his closest contender by 106,215 votes, pulling 364,527 votes at 391 centres out of 392 with his logo ‘television’.
Awami League-backed Azmat Ullah Khan has secured 258,312 votes with his ‘inkpot-pen’ symbol.
Returning Officer Matiar Rahman had begun announcing the official results at 7:20pm.
bdnews24.com is posting the official results as announced by the office of the Returning Officer. Mannan was present there while Azmat was not.
The BNP is still releasing the results from the various polling centres from their Gazipur office. Awami League had also started publishing the results from its local office, but stopped after results from five centres.
Meanwhile, Mannan’s supporters are already celebrating as he is leading by a huge margin. They took out several processions in different parts of the city, rejoicing even in front of the Returning Officer’s office.
The voting at 392 centres in the city, which began at 8am Saturday, had ended peacefully at 4pm. Until now, the vote counting was still going on.
Over 7,000 electoral officials including presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers were deputed for the ballot.

A total 456 candidates are also in the fray for councillors of 57 general wards, and 128 women are contesting for the 19 reserved seats.
Azmat Ullah Khan had been Tongi municipal Mayor since 1995 and MA Mannan had won the 1991 national elections from the constituency.
Among other candidates, Aman Ullah has the poll symbol of ‘padlock’, Nazim Uddin Ahmed ‘horse’, Md Mejbah Uddin Sarkar Rubel ‘duck’, Rina Sultana ‘butterfly’, and Jahangir Alam ‘pineapple’.
But Jahangir has withdrawn from the contest in favour of Azmat after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's personal intervention.
There are 2,289 polling rooms in 392 centres in the 330-square kilometre city corporation. Of the 10,26,938 voters in the city corporations, 499,161 are women and 527,777 are men.
