He also thanked everyone for peaceful, free and fair polling on Saturday.
Starting from 8am, the balloting at 392 centres in the city ended at 4pm. The CEC gave his reaction over the polls at a media briefing after 5pm.

Ahmad urged everyone to accept the results of the polls in Gazipur. “The people choose the representatives through voting. Honour the people’s decision. Whether you win or lose – don’t show off or take out victory procession.”
“Establish the culture of free and fair election in the country by complying with the people’s verdict,” he added.
He said they were looking into the allegations raised against the candidates and political parties during the voting.
“The Election Commission has ensured uninterrupted voting despite all kinds of threats.”
The EC believes in transparency, Ahmad said while praising the mass media for its role. “There is no chance of rigging because of the media presence nowadays.”
The CEC also asked everyone to assist the law enforcement agencies to prevent post-poll trouble.
Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad was speaking at the press briefing at the EC conference room where other Election Commissioners and the EC Secretary were also present.
