A depression over the Bay of Bengal was causing heavy rainfall over areas in Bangladesh.

Under its influence, heavy to very heavy downpours are expected over Khulna, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions throughout Friday.
It became a land depression after it moved northwest over Odisha in India's east coast at 6am, according to the Met Office's special weather bulletin.
Martime ports in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No 3.
The low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali, Jhalokathi, Pirojpur, Borguna, Bagerhat, Khulna and Satkhira may experience wind driven surge up to two feet above normal tide.
Several regions in the country have been experiencing downpours since Thursday morning, and the trend is set to continue on Friday, said meteorologist Hafizur Rahman.
Rainfall in Dhaka may also continue on Saturday, with eight hours of precipitations expected for the capital city, according to AccuWeather.
The Met Office has recorded 50mm rainfall in Dhaka over 24 hours until 6am Friday. Khepupara in Patuakhali had the country's highest recorded rainfall with 64mm.
