Murder case suspect ‘takes own life’ in DB custody in Bogura

Police say he was accused in the murder of the driver following a robbery of an autorickshaw

A young man has allegedly died by suicide while in the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) of police in Bogura.

Police said he was an accused in the murder of an autorickshaw driver following the theft of the vehicle.

According to Bogura Detective Branch chief Iqbal Bahar, the incident occurred around 10am on Sunday.

He said the detainee went to the bathroom of the holding cell at the DB office and allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself with a Lungi.

The deceased, Md Asad, 30, hailed from Jorgacha Madhya Uttarpara village in Sariakandi Upazila.

He had been named as a suspect in the murder case of Abdul Mannan Molla, 45, an autorickshaw driver from the same Upazila.
