Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Iqbal Bahar promoted, transferred to Dhaka

The government has promoted Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Iqbal Bahar from deputy inspector general to additional IG and transferred him to the headquarters in Dhaka.

But his successor has not been named.

CMP Additional Commissioner Masood-ul-Hasan told bdnews24.com on Monday he will stand in as commissioner until the appointment of a new one.

The Public Security Division issued a circular deputising Iqbal to Dhaka on Apr 26.

Before joining CMP as its commissioner in 2016, Iqbal worked in Rajshahi as a DIG.

He joined the police as an assistant superintendent in 1989. He had worked in the Police Headquarters and in Rangpur.

He had also been SP of Dhaka and Jashore.
