Power and Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood has returned home after being discharged from hospital and has been advised to rest for a few days.
Mahmood was admitted to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital on Sept 1 with fever, cough, a cold and breathing difficulties.
His aide Abdullah Al Qayes told bdnews24.com on Monday that the minister returned home on Saturday on doctors’ advice.
“He will need to rest for a few days. After that, he should be able to return to his regular schedule,” Qayes said.
BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy visited Mahmood at his home on Sunday.
A person close to the minister said he also joined several ministry meetings online that day.
Earlier, Mahmood's son Abed Hasan Mahmood said his father had been suffering from a high fever before specialist doctors advised hospital admission.
A medical board was formed at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital to oversee his treatment.
Mahmood, also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, was sworn in as power, energy and mineral resources minister on Feb 17.
