Man dies after being stabbed multiple times in Lalbagh

A friend says the victims had an altercation the previous night

A man has been fatally stabbed multiple times in a grisly killing in Dhaka’s Lalbagh.

Police said the incident unfolded at 4pm at Shahid Nagar on Tuesday.

The dead has been identified as Mohammad Hossain, 25, who worked at a workshop manufacturing ornaments. He lived with his family close to the murder site.

A friend of the victim named Abdul Rakib said Hossain had an altercation with a youth named Abir on Monday night, which later escalated into a scuffle. Locals had attempted to settle the feud.

According to Rakib, who took the victim to the hospital, Abir stabbed Hossain on Tuesday as he was returning home from work.

Hossain was stabbed five to six times and was declared dead upon arrival at DMCH.

Lalbagh Police chief Yasin Ali said Abir has not been arrested yet and police are investigating the matter.
