Ten fire service units have doused the fire after nearly an hour of efforts

A fire that broke out at Dhaka’s Korail slum has been brought under control after nearly an hour of efforts by 10 fire service units.
Md Shahjahan Sikder, a spokesperson for the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire was brought under control at 1:35am on Saturday.
Earlier, another fire service officer, Talha Bin Jasim, said they received reports of the fire at Korail slum around 12:45am.
“Our first unit reached the site at 12:52am. Eventually, 10 units joined the efforts to bring the fire under control,” he said.
The Fire Service Control Room has yet to determine the cause of the fire or assess the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, another fire broke out at a sawmill near Taltola Market in Dhaka’s Khilgaon on Friday evening.
Nine Fire Service units brought it under control after two hours, but by then, at least two sawmills and 20 shops had been gutted.
