The National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute has released a list of 32 people injured in a Bangladesh Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari area.

Most of those listed, aged between 10 and 13, are identified with single names.

Six of them are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The ICU patients are Nafis, Shamim, Shayan Yusuf, Mahia, Afnan, and Samia.

Among them, Nafis has suffered 95 percent burns. The list does not specify the burn percentage for the other five.

Two students, Erickson and Mehrin, have sustained 100 percent burns.

Nazia and Mahtab, both aged 13, have burns covering 80 percent of their bodies.

Makin, 15, has suffered burns across 62 percent. Ayan, 14, and Masuma each have 60 percent burns.

Among the others, Tasnia has 35 percent burns, 11-year-old Arian 55 percent, Ashraful Islam 15 percent, Rohan 50 percent, Shreya 5 percent, Kabyo 20 percent, Yusha 6 percent and Rupi Barua 6 percent.

Tasmiya has 5 percent, Zayana 8 percent, Saiba 8 percent, Payel 10 percent, Abir 20 percent, Kafi Ahmed 10 percent, Muntaha 5 percent, Albina 5 percent, and Niloy 18 percent burns.

The ages and burn percentages of two victims named Nowrin and Masuka were not mentioned in the institute’s list.

At least 19 people have died in the crash of the Air Force training jet and more than 150 others have been injured or burnt.

An F-7 BGI training jet crashed shortly after takeoff around 1:06pm on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The jet burst into flames right after the crash. A plume of thick smoke could be seen from quite a distance.

Nine Fire Service units rushed to the scene to put out the flames.

Shah Bulbul, a Milestone School and College spokesman, said: “The aircraft hit the gate of one of our academic buildings where classes were in session. Many were burned in the fire.”

Several victims were carried out on stretchers and taken away by ambulance.

Initial treatment was provided at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, Crescent Hospital, Uttara Adhunik Hospital, Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Uttara Women’s Medical College, Shaheed Mansor Ali Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, and the burn institute.

Most burn victims were later transferred to the burn institute.

Brig Gen Muhammad Zahed Kamal, director general of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, told reporters at the scene around 4:30pm that rescue workers had recovered 19 bodies from the rubble and that more than 50 injured and burnt people have been sent to hospitals.

The military’s media wing later confirmed that 19 people had died in the crash, including the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Md Tawkir Islam.
